On Saturday the 20th of August 2022 the World’s FIRST EVER Anthotype Day took place, initiated and facilitated by a small team at AlternativePhotography.com. Over 100 artists from all over the globe sent in their anthotypes and research notes of prints made from plants, powders or dyes.  The collective research gathered on the day has been compiled in this book covering 60 plants.

Anthotype Emulsions, Volume 1 will serve as great inspiration for other anthotype artists and be a reference guide to try something new. About the editor Malin Fabbri moved from Sweden to London to study. She earned an MA in Design at Central St. Martin’s, but publishing her thesis felt more like a beginning than an end. Malin combined her academic and practical experience and started AlternativePhotography.com in 2000.

The website still maintains its origins as a source of information and research for alternative photographic processes and artists. Malin actively manages the expansion of the site as editor, researches alternative photographic processes, makes prints and runs workshops. She is the co-author of Blueprint to cyanotypes and From pinhole to print, the editor of Alternative Photography: Art and Artists, Edition I, Anthotype
